My Monthly Make

A super-quick post here.    I've had the picture on the flickr group for a bit,  but I forgot to put up a picture of my Monthly Make for January here on my blog.

So here it is.

My first ever stitchery - a vase cover from Homespun Issue No 96, designed by Lisa Pyke.  Although this is far from perfect I loved making it, and I think stitching is now my new favourite thing!

Until next time....

Take care

Back in the land of the living

It's been so long I hardly know how to find my way around the keyboard anymore!  A few things conspired to keep me away from here.  Firstly I have been going through a bit of a low patch,  not really feeling up to very much and only achieving the very bare essentials.  Also our laptop died and we had to wait for about a month before we could get a replacement.  And for the last couple of weeks Little Miss and I have been sick.  But I'm back!!  I have made a few commitments craft-wise for 2012 to motivate me to get some things done.

I've participating in the House Ornament Swap

House Ornament Swap
at http://fourhappyviolets.blogspot.com/

and my swap partner is Cheryll at http://stitchingcubbyhole.blogspot.com/.  I'll be posting Cheryll her little house this week, I hope she likes it.  This is the first swap I have ever been part of and I'm really looking forward to seeing what Cheryll has made. I'm sure it will be lovely!

I've also joined the Monthly Make 2012 at http://thefeltfairyuk.blogspot.com

and the 1 XMAS ITEM A MONTH at  http://pinsandwhiskers@gmail.com/
One Xmas Item a Month
I've already failed at this one, but I'll be back on track next month.

Oh, oh Little Miss is waking up.  I will finish this later.  Till then..

Take care

MY GIRL

A quilter in the making...

After all that hard work...

...it was time for a snuggle with mummy...

and that was the end of my sewing for the day.

Needless to say, I have no block to show you today.

Maybe tomorrow....

Have a great weekend.

Drum Roll Please....

Ta Da!!

My first pieced block ...       EVER!

I'm so proud.  I won't tell you how long it took or how many times I had to unpick, that information is classified.  But I can tell you that, apart from a few swear words here and there, the process was really enjoyable.  I'm hooked!

Now I really must find a better background colour to photograph on.....

What a welcome!

Thank you to everyone who commented on my first post.  I hope I didn't miss anyone when I was sending out my replies. Apologies if I did.

You are such a friendly bunch, and so inspirational.  I can't wait to be a fully-fledged part of this community and to get to know you all better.

I hope to be back soon with a photo of my first block of the Fat Quarter Shop Mystery BOM.  I received the first four blocks a couple of weeks ago and have just started cutting the squares.  With a nearly-three-year-old, two kittens and a dog running riot (and me cutting out on the floor!) I'm finding it's not an easy job!

The other project I'll be starting soon is the This Goes with That Club from Patchwork Plus.  I'm going with the Ruby option as I love that fabric, and I don't have much of a stash of my own to pick and choose from.  It starts later this month, so watch this space.

Thanks so much again.  Till next time.....

In the beginning.....

Well, here it is.  My first ever blog entry.  Not something I ever thought I'd be doing, but I've been enjoying reading so many other blogs lately I wanted to get in on the action too.

I don't have high expectations, as I've never been successful at keeping a diary.  I have a couple of quilt projects I'm about to start, so at this stage my aim is to update my blog with my progress on these.  This will probably end up being primarily a craft blog I think, maybe a bit of knitting, dressmaking, and these new-found obsessions of mine - quilting and stitching.  If anything else interesting occurs I'll make an effort to post it here too, but don't hold your breath - it's a very dull life I lead!

As I learn how to use Blogger I will be improving my page (page/blog - I don't even know what to call it!!).  Right now I have no idea where to start.  Any suggestions most welcome!

So to my family and friends, here I am in blogland.  I hope you enjoy seeing what I'm up to.

OMG now that I've made my intentions public I'm going to HAVE to pull my finger out!  Eeek!!
